Overview
Embark on the ultimate Kilimanjaro adventure with our 8 Days Lemosho Route trek. This extended itinerary allows for a more gradual ascent, enhancing acclimatization and increasing your chances of reaching the summit. The Lemosho Route is known for its breathtaking landscapes, including lush rainforests, alpine meadows, and stark high-altitude deserts. Over the course of eight days, you’ll experience the diverse beauty of Mount Kilimanjaro, culminating in a triumphant sunrise at Uhuru Peak.
Tour Plan
Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to Moshi/Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our team and transferred to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for an overnight stay and pre-climb briefing.
Day 2: Moshi/Arusha – Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to Londorossi Gate for registration, then continue to the Lemosho trailhead. Begin your trek through the rich montane rainforest to Mti Mkubwa Camp, where you’ll enjoy a hearty dinner and spend your first night on the mountain.
Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp
Ascend through the forest and into the moorland zone, crossing valleys and ridges to reach Shira 1 Camp with views of the Shira Plateau.
Day 4: Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Continue your trek across the plateau toward Shira 2 Camp, enjoying panoramic views and beginning to feel the effects of the higher altitude.
Day 5: Shira 2 Camp – Barranco Camp
Hike toward Lava Tower (acclimatization point), then descend to Barranco Camp, passing the dramatic Great Barranco Wall.
Day 6: Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
Continue your trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, which is the base camp for your final summit attempt. The hike takes you through alpine desert terrain. Once at Barafu Camp, have an early dinner and rest in preparation for the summit bid.
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Start your trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, located on the high-altitude desert. The day involves a steady ascent, with Barafu Camp being the final stop before the summit attempt. Prepare for your upcoming climb and enjoy an early dinner before resting.
Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Descend to Mweka Camp
Begin your summit attempt around midnight, climbing through the night to reach Uhuru Peak at sunrise. Celebrate your achievement with breathtaking views from the highest point on Kilimanjaro. Descend to Mweka Camp, where you’ll have a celebratory dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Departure
After a final breakfast at Mweka Camp, descend to Mweka Gate. Complete the park formalities and receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Arusha for a farewell dinner and overnight stay or head to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight.
